    Comments, Additional Information, References

    1. It no longer stands. Because it was mentioned in Schmidt's 1966 book, it's likely that it still stood then; landowner and descendant Sally Wadsworth Wood thought it may have been razed as early as the 1950s, according to a personal conversation I had with her. *
    2. The cobblestone was located, as described, about 2 miles north of the Village of Geneseo on a parcel often still referred to as the (Cobble)Stone House Lot; historically, it was likely on Lot 85 and always owned by the Wadsworths, but served as a tenant house. It was occupied/used at one time by Frank DiFranco, who operated the horse farm across the street, now Leg Up Stables. I'm attaching a satellite map clipping of where I believe the house stood (at the gray place-marker on the west side of Rt. 39 across from the barn driveway)[See satellite view above in "Map Location section.].
    3. The reason for its demise was cited as increased heavy traffic which rattled it into poor shape; Sally's father was in charge of the property and had it razed.
    4. I'm attaching an image of the DiFranco home, taken in 1951. It's the only one we have.
